Garnish Island Gin Wins The Title of Ireland’s Best Gin at the 2023 Irish Whiskey Awards

In a remarkable feat at the 2023 Irish Whiskey Awards, Deirdre Bohane’s Garnish Island Gin claimed the prestigious Ireland’s Best Gin award at the 2023 Irish Whiskey Awards.

Deirdre is one of Ireland’s very few female distillers she and has crafted more than 40 premium gins for customers of West Cork Distillers and West Cork Irish Whiskey both in Ireland and around the world. Garnish Island is her flagship gin. Inspired by her childhood summers spent with cousins in Glengarriff and day trips to the island, Deirdre carefully chose the botanicals that capture the essence of Garnish island . They are infused to release their essential oils and then slowly distilled in small batches in a custom built copper pot still.

A perfect gin gift idea, this aromatic and complex gin pairs perfectly with any premium tonic and a slice of lime. What sets Garnish Island Gin apart is its commitment to preserving the full spectrum of flavors. The gin is non-chill filtered, a deliberate choice made by Deirdre to safeguard the rich and delicious profile of her creation. This results in an aromatic and complex gin that captivates connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.

Garnish Island Gin’s versatility shines through in its recommended serving suggestion – a classic pairing with any premium tonic and a slice of lime. Available in our Whiskey and Gin shop this combination enhances the intricate flavors, offering a delightful and refreshing drinking experience.

Deirdre Bohane’s win at the Irish Whiskey Awards is not just a celebration of her expertise but also a recognition of the diversity and innovation emerging in the Irish distilling landscape. As a female distiller, Deirdre’s achievements inspire and pave the way for future generations in the industry.
